Vocal and instrumental music are not distinct worlds in Mozart's oeuvre. On the contrary, this composer had no problem with transferring melodies between his operas and symphonies. B'Rock and René Jacobs have previously shown themselves to be the perfect tandem for Mozart's music. This time they provide the power behind a talented duo of young Norwegian singers: Mari Eriksmoen and Johannes Weisser. This crystal-clear soprano and expressive baritone browse through four of Mozart's operas, two of them with libretti by the legendary Lorenzo da Ponte. The result is a both moving and mischievous anthology of arias and love duets, starring Papageno, Papagena, Figaro, Cherubino and other Mozart heroes. With their selection from such 'late' works as the 'Jupiter' symphony, B'Rock demonstrates how Mozart's disarming cantabile prompts even the instrumentalists to sing.
