Opulent timbre
B'Rock does not pace with the widespread fashion of reducing the strength of baroque orchestras and consciously opts for a full and rich sound. Just like 17th and 18th century composers mostly had a well manned (court) orchestra at their disposal, large orchestral strengths are also a prerequisite in present-day performance practices.
The sound ideal of B'Rock is determined by a large group of strings supported by an extended and diversified basso continuo, completed, according to the programme, with flutes, oboes, trumpets and percussion.
B'Rock aims at a standard strength of 8 violins, 3 violas, 2 celli, 1 bass, 1 lute, 1 harpsichord and 1 bassoon.
