“From the heart – may it go to the heart again” was Beethoven’s creed for his monumental Missa solemnis. Initially commissioned for his mecenas Archduke Rudolph’s elevation to Cardinal Archbishop, it transcended mere ceremonial music to become a pinnacle of Beethoven’s genius.

In breaking the mold of traditional church music, Beethoven’s Missa became a testament to his devotion and innovation. With each note, he fused reverence with audacity, creating a work that surpassed its original purpose. It stands as a vibrant expression of spiritual depth and artistic brilliance, a timeless masterpiece that continues to resonate through the ages.

This production was realized with the support of the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian Federal Government through Flanders Tax Shelter.
