Concerto’s starring… a mandolin. Not exactly something that gets you excited? A completely normal reaction – until you hear and see Avi Avital at work. In recent years, the Israeli mandolinist has single-handedly put the instrument back on the world map in classical music – and in jazz, for that matter. With his unparalleled virtuosity and irresistible charisma, Avital is so in demand that he can pick and choose his musical partners: from the BBC Symphony Orchestra over Kent Nagano to famous jazz musicians like pianist Omer Klein and bassist Omer Avital; they are all on stage with him.
And now B’Rock, with our lively sound and energetic playing style is the perfect match for Avital. Together, soloist and orchestra inject a solid dose of flair and schwung into the fiery concertos by Italian baroque composers.
