For his first appearance in Rochefort, in a chamber setting, B’Rock offers an exquisite programme celebrating Haydn, together with the renowned Russian pianist Olga Pashchenko, winner of numerous international competitions.

In 1791, the Austrian composer travelled to London for the first time, as part of a long visit initiated by his friend Johann Peter Salomon, a violinist and impresario who was rightly convinced that British audiences needed to hear the legendary master in concert. Haydn took with him a suitcase full of new compositions, including as yet unfinished symphonies. These twelve works represent the absolute pinnacle of his orchestral output, characterised by lyricism, humour and breathtaking orchestral colours, perfectly suited to London ears, accustomed at the time to musical fireworks.

B’Rock Orchestra will introduce us to two of these symphonies: No. 101, entitled The Clock, distinguished by the pendulum-like rhythm that drives its slow movement, constantly moving from one part to another; and No. 104, known as the London symphony, full of vitality and elegance. The Piano Trio No. 39, nicknamed the Gypsy Trio because of its Hungarian-style rondo finale, completes this jubilant musical panorama.
