A tribute to the trumpet and the organ
At St Peter’s Church in Oostkamp, B’Rock pays tribute to two indispensable instruments of the baroque orchestra: the trumpet and the organ. Telemann‘s Trumpet Concerto No. 1 is a real challenge for the player of the natural trumpet, who has to play with a warm tone and formidable virtuosity. David Van Bouwel plays the superb Van Eynde organ in a pictorial Battaglia by Kerll and organ concertos by Corrette and Handel. As the inventor of the latter genre, Handel later summoned up echoes of his organ concerti in several concerti grossi from his masterly Opus 6; B’Rock will be performing No. 10. In the fine Sonata Prima by the Italian composer Viviani, trumpet and organ appear in the spotlight together.
