Monumental masterpiece leading to Christmas
Catharsis in the form of six cantatas and more than two hours of music. That is Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. This monumental masterpiece leads one to stillness, reflection and restrained joy. With a balanced structure and the well-considered use of chorus, soloists and orchestra, Bach finds exactly the right tone. The festive passages with their tympani and trumpets provide excitement, while warm arias and opulent chorales offer calm. For the performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, B’Rock Orchestra is joining forces with Chorwerk Ruhr. This German chamber chorus is tried and tested in the grand repertoire of its home country and in the course of 20 years has worked its way up to the highest ranks among international choirs. Florian Helgath, its principal conductor, a guest with the most eminent choirs all over the world, plus a set of leading soloists, guarantee an impassioned performance of Bach’s Christmas classic.
