“Sometimes I have the feeling I must invent – reinvent the world…”: this small rebellious characteristic perfectly describes Manuela. She also sees herself as impatient and a bit chaotic. “Friends say I’m capable of seeing things from lots of different angels: I translate this as being incoherent”, she laughs. Picking up the viola at the age of 9 was not a major conscious decision. Today there’s nothing she loves more than shaping the music from the inner voices.
At B’Rock, Manuela enjoys “the diversity of the programming and the fact that each production is a surprise”. Her favourite production is Heiner Goebbels Songs of War. “It was a beautiful dialogue between Locke’s music and Goebbels compositions. I loved the sober, theatrical setting and the challenge of reading the texts while playing the music.”
