Growing up in the rural village of Hertsberge, “a microclimate to the south of Bruges”, Tom started playing the piano at the age of 8. At the age of 13 he moved to double bass, which was pretty young in those days. He gets nervous at concerts only when he has to play a major solo, something that doesn’t happen often for bass players. “In which case, I cope by telling bad jokes to my colleagues”.
Tom was one of the founders of B’Rock in 2005. What he loves about the orchestra is that each project is challenging and is an invitation to explore… “as well of course as the great friendships he has with colleagues!” He can’t pick one favourite concert, but loves it “when musicians look happy after the last note of the project”.
