B'Rock Orchestra & DIADEMUS Vocalisten
The Mass in B minor, BWV 232, weaves together various styles into a single musical monument. It is as though Bach, looking back on his long career, wanted to prove once and for all that he could do absolutely anything. We find existing and newly composed music, ‘stile antico’ choruses and fashionable, virtuosic arias, moving solos and imposing orchestral tutti. In short, the best of Bach’s Baroque prowess, in a carefully constructed structure in which every page seems to look back on a lifetime of composition.
This concert, conducted by Benno Schachtner, concludes a festive weekend celebrating 900 years of Roggenburg Abbey.
This production is realized with the support of the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian Federal Government through Flanders Tax Shelter.
