Cecilia Bernardini, Marcus van den Munckhof & Keiko Shichijo
Especially for Bijloke Wonderland, B’Rock invites you to an intimate and scintillating chamber concert. Concertmaster Cecilia Bernardini, cellist Marcus van den Munckhof, and fortepianist Keiko Shichijo take you on a summer stroll through Viennese classical music: surprising, lively, and full of quirks.
Mozart’s early Piano Trio in B flat opens with youthful flair: a sparkling work full of operatic charm and virtuoso lightness. From there, a fascinating interplay of variations on motifs from The Magic Flute, arguably the opera success of the century, unfolds. Both Beethoven and the Romberg cousins take Mozart’s famous melodies – ‘Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen’ and ‘Bei Männern welche Liebe fühlen’ respectively – as the starting point for intimate, imaginative arrangements.
Haydn, finally, appears in two guises: first in the tranquil depth of a sonata movement in G minor, then in the famous Gypsy Trio, where his musical humor and rhythmic brilliance are guaranteed to get the audience moving.
