B'Rock Orchestra & Lucie Horsch
With great enthusiasm, ‘almost fearsome virtuosity and superb technique’ (BBC Music Magazine), Dutch recorder queen Lucie Horsch has been conquering European stages for several years.
This summer, she will be joining B’Rock Orchestra at the SHMF to perform a selection of baroque works, including George Frideric Handel’s second suite from Water Music. This was composed in 1717 for King George I of England to accompany an atmospheric boat trip on the Thames.
Around 30 years later, Stockholm composer Johan Helmich Roman wrote his Drottningholmsmusiken for another royal family – namely for the wedding of Swedish Prince Adolf Fredrik to Luise Ulrike of Prussia. Roman’s work was clearly inspired by the traditions of French dance music and Italian concert style.
Look forward to an evening full of festive sounds, baroque sparkle and virtuoso elegance!
This production is realized with the support of the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian Federal Government through Flanders Tax Shelter.
