Canadian-Dutch soprano Elisabeth Hetherington (Dutch Music Prize 2024) and B’Rock bring to life the 18th-century ‘Virtuosa di Camera’ Francesca Cuzzoni: treasures from the Baroque repertoire of Handel, Bononcini and others, written so that she might be remembered through the centuries. The concert explores the emotional depth, vocal agility and dramatic brilliance that made Cuzzoni one of the best-known names in Europe at the time. Fiery temperament paired with extraordinary artistry.

Connecting the centuries, the programme will also highlight our contemporary times with compositions written especially for Hetherington’s voice. These modern works pay homage to the tradition of creating music tailored to the performer. Thus, the programme creates a fascinating dialogue between historical and contemporary art.

This production is realized with the support of the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian Federal Government through Flanders Tax Shelter.
