Musical leader and violin solo

Vivaldi and his contemporaries painted with sounds. Their mission was to strike the listener amidships with music that is so evocative that it is almost palpable. In the violin concertos that make up Le Quattro Stagioni, a great variety of scenes pass in front of the mind’s eye, from barking dogs and dancing nymphs to a storm and a shower. The violin narrates and illustrates; at first subdued, then acrobatic, often extremely humorous. Fux’ Le dolcezze e l’amarezze della notte, Heinrich Biber’s Battalia and Telemann’s Concerto ‘Die Relinge’ or ‘The Frogs’ also unfold like cartoons in sound. B’Rock is joining forces with a kindred musical spirit of its early days: Dmitry Sinkovsky. Roused by his boundless virtuosity and intense expressiveness, the orchestra brings the baroque world of images to life.

B'Rock and Sinkovsky seem ideally suited - both enthusiastic and fearless. The players attacked their strings with relish, filling Cadogan Hall with a thrilling body of sound, weighty but flexible, with a satisfying depth. I wish B'Rock a speedy return.
