Alexander Melnikov, Olga Pashchenko & B'Rock Orchestra
Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s double concerto unfolds a colorful, lively soundscape under Alexander Melnikov’s subtle musicality and the unmistakable character of Olga Paschenko’s harpsichord playing.
The evening begins with Johann Sebastian Bach’s fifth Brandenburg Concerto, a work that shifts the harpsichord from its accompanying role to center stage and continues to fascinate listeners today with its virtuoso cadenza. This is followed by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s rarely heard Double Concerto for Harpsichord and Hammerklavier – a musical dialogue between two keyboard worlds, full of color and surprising twists.
The second part features Haydn’s Symphony No. 98, one of the famous “London” symphonies, which delights with its elegant humor and orchestral brilliance. The concert concludes with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major a work of lyrical beauty and inner luminosity that unfolds its full emotional depth under Melnikov’s hands.
This production is realized with the support of the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian Federal Government through Flanders Tax Shelter.
