B’Rock and René Jacobs present Bach’s St John Passion, his most intense and dramatic musical setting of the biblical Passion narrative. In the space of three months, the Thomaskantor composed a work that cuts like a knife: more dynamic than the St Matthew Passion, yet also more merciless. John the Evangelist recounts the story matter-of-factly; Bach turns it into theatre.

For this production, René Jacobs has invited five outstanding international soloists, and we are once again collaborating with the Zürcher Sing-Akademie.

This production is realized with the support of the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian Federal Government through Flanders Tax Shelter.
