Augsburger Domsingknaben & B'Rock Orchestra
Bach’s Christmas Oratorio is more than a retelling of the Nativity – it’s a sweeping musical panorama of hope, wonder, fear and joy. From the jubilant trumpet calls of ‘Jauchzet, frohlocket’ to the intimate solos and richly layered choruses, Bach draws us into a world where angels sing, shepherds marvel, and kings are moved by a distant star.
In six cantatas originally written for separate services during the Christmas season, Bach captures every shade of the story: the joy of birth, the awe of the shepherds, the unease of Herod, and the eventual triumph of light over darkness. It’s a deeply human drama in divine music, full of colour, contrast, and emotional power.
This performance brings us together with the renowned Augsburger Domsingknaben under the direction of Stefan Steinemann. You’ll get a chance to experience one of Bach’s most inspired creations in full during two consecutive concerts in Augsburg, or a selection of cantatas during the other concerts.
This production is realized with the support of the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian Federal Government through Flanders Tax Shelter.
