Growing up in the small Bulgarian town of Yambol, young Jivka was passionate about ballet. But there was also the long musical tradition in her family that caused her pick up the violin at the age of 7. What she likes most about the violin as instrument is “its wonderful colour palette in different acoustics”. Though she loathes the worrying about her gut strings in extreme weather conditions.
At B’Rock, Jivka loves the “profound collegiality, the search for true spontaneity, and the fantasy of being able to touch the emotions of our audience”. When not making music, you can find Jivka on long strolls in her home town of Antwerp, enjoying chance encounters with others, or watching gymnastics.
